YEARS five and six pupils learnt to support each other in the beautiful but challenging environment of Swaledale during a week-long visit by Middleton Tyas and Hunton and Arrathorne schools to Marrick Priory.
Following the visit last November, 24 pupils from Middleton Tyas School tried a taster weekend at Marrick Priory with their teacher Nicky Todd, a qualified outdoors activities instructor.
The Key Stage Two pupils all have an opportunity to visit Marrick Priory for a residential programme of outdoor activities. Year five and six pupils spent five days at Marrick and the younger year three and four pupils stayed for a weekend.
Year five and six pupils were joined by Steve Kowal, and pupils from Hunton and Arrathorne Primary School, and took part in activities including climbing and abseiling, caving and an adventure course.
They also visited the Old Gang and Grinton smelt mills.
It was a special week for Middleton Tyas pupil Timothy Bray, who celebrated his tenth birthday in Crackpot Cave.
