A YOUNG mother has realised her ambition of setting up a purpose-built yard for full livery on the farm previously run by her parents. She believes it is one of the few livery-only yards in the area.
Elizabeth North (ne Cooper), 25, and her husband, Charles, have set up the comprehensive business at Southmoor Farm on the outskirts of Sedgefield.
She takes eight horses and offers an indoor and outdoor arena, a cross-country course and 25 acres of private hacking and grazing. But there are plans for a further 12 boxes as an extension to the indoor school.
With a head girl working towards Stage 4 and a student working towards Stage 2 and NVQ3, the operation was BHS-approved in December.
Mrs North, who has a 16-month-old son, Samuel, was a successful show jumper in her teens and is now training for her BHS intermediate certificate, which she hopes to take this year.
