A MAN appeared in court yesterday accused of taking part in a raid on a travel agents office.
Stephen Walton, 34, is charged with robbery at Callers Pegasus, in Consett, County Durham, last Tuesday, involving £25,000 worth of foreign currency, travellers' cheques and a small amount of sterling.
Mr Walton, of Sheriff Hill, Gateshead, came before a judge at Durham Crown Court for a brief preliminary hearing yesterday.
The case was adjourned for seven weeks by Judge Peter Armstrong, who remanded Mr Walton in custody.
There was no bail application by defence barrister Ian Graham.
Detectives in Consett are still appealing for information from anyone in the vicinity of the raided premises, in Middle Street, at the time of the alleged incident, shortly after 5pm on January 22.
They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a car used during the robbery, which had been parked in Albert Street, immediately behind Middle Street.
Anyone with information is asked to ring Consett CID, on (01207) 504204, or Crimestoppers on freephone (0800) 555111
