A SECONDARY school has come in for praise following a visit by a Government inspector.
Ken Shooter visited Manor College of Technology, Hartlepool, in December as part of a routine inspection.
Manor College, which specialises in technology, maths, science and information technology, was the first secondary school in the town to be granted specialist status.
During his visit, Mr Shooter, who is chief inspector of technology, said: "The college is impressive. There are high standards and a climate of learning. High expectations prevail throughout."
He also praised its efforts to work in partnership with others.
"The college has capitalised on the excellent partnership with Hartlepool College of Further Education. The college has tailored further education provision to better suit student and curriculum needs, and this is a good thing."
He observed the attitude of the 1,000 pupils, describing them as "well-behaved, open, friendly and polite".
Headteacher Alan White said: "It is always reassuring to receive positive feedback from Government inspectors.
"We have an excellent team on board at Manor College and Mr Shooter's findings demonstrate that our children are being given every opportunity to gain a sound education."
