Shildon - A brilliant performance by the already crowned North Eastern Under-13 boys Cross Country

Champions went one better at the North of England Cross Country Championships held at Allestree

Derby on Saturday, January 26 to take the Shildon club to their first North of England title.

Excellent performances from Andrew Thompson in fifth place in a time of 11. 28 closely followed by Khalil Thompson in seventh place in a time of 11. 34, next came Warren Roberts in tenth place in 11.45 then followed by Anthony Brown in 29 th place in a time of 12.10 and finally Kyle Redfern in 128th place in a time of 15. 02 enabled the club to take the title by a staggering margin of 46 points from Liverpool Harriers and Derby & County AC.

Team Results: Shildon 51points; Liverpool Harriers 97; Derby and County AC 125. In the U15 boys race Matthew Lomax was first home for the club in tenth place in a time of 12.43, Khalil Thompson in 88th position in time of 14.19 and P Smith 107th in 14.43 and finally Anthony Forth 137th place in 15.59 the team placing was 15th, the individual winner was A Holliday of Trafford AC in 12.08.

Natalie Owens was our only runner in the U17 girls event and had a much improved run to finish in 18th place in 16.55, the winner was R Nathan of Lincoln Wellington AC. In the Junior Men's event Paul Best had a good run to finish in 29th place in 28.02 with club mate Stephen Brown in 43rd place in 29.19, the winner was S Ablitt of Grantham AC in 24.59.
