A UNION official who helped to organise the Durham Miners' Gala is bringing his impressions of the march to a gallery.
George Robson spent almost 30 years working for the National Union of Mineworkers and is still involved in organising the Big Meeting.
After retiring from the union in 1993 he decided to take up the paintbrush and has concentrated on depicting scenes from the gala.
His latest exhibition, Squint, can be seen at Bishop Auckland Town Hall from next Monday until March 2.
Mr Robson has spent two years developing his monochrome images that use shadows in black and highlights in near white.
Two pieces of his work have been purchased by the Government's Art Collection, and in June this year he will have an exhibition in the European Parliament, in Brussels
