Not on register: A report in yesterday's edition of The Northern Echo incorrectly stated that prison officer Brian Bestford, 49, of Witton Gilbert, near Durham City, would have to sign the sex offenders' register. Bestford, who was convicted at Durham Crown Court earlier this week of downloading child pornography from the Internet, was given a two-year conditional discharge, and will not be required to sign the register.
