Willington League

The semi-finals of the Eight-Man Team Knock Out produced a whitewash victory for the league champions from the Prospect Club over the visiting Willington Cottles. However the other match was much tighter with Hunwick Joiners Arms beating their hosts at the Victoria Club by two points.

The Victoria Club had their revenge over the Joiners when they overtook them for the runners-up spot by beating Willington Black Horse in a re-arranged match, but their hopes of a whitewash victory to keep them in with a chance of a Championship play-off evaporated when the Horse took three points.

The Victoria had singles wins from Ian Breen, Colin Pratt, Alan Richardson, Ian Mavin and Bobby Hall with Davey Hawkins making the only reply for the Horse. The home side then took all three doubles points but went down in the Team game. Ian Mavin completed a good match for the Victoria when he beat Joe Davies in the captain's game, where both players hit maximums.
