GOOD NEIGHBOURS: Yarm and Eaglescliffe Good Neighbours scheme, offers home visits to the elderly, as well as lifts to hospital or other local destinations for elderly people who do not have other means of support or transport. It is available to Yarm and Eaglescliffe residents. The service is run from the Methodist Church, in Yarm, and has a rota of volunteers from the different churches in the area. LADIES' MEETING: The spring session of the ladies section of the Egglescliffe Community centre meets on April 18, at 7.45pm, when the subject will be pearls and Vietnamese lacquerware.

GARDEN COMPETITION: Following the successful introduction of the Ingleby Barwick Garden competition last year, the parish council has decided to run the competition as an annual event. Details of this year's competition will be published in this column in the near future.

PLAY AREA: The Ingleby Barwick Residents' Association is pressing ahead with applications for grants to carry out initial improvements to the play area behind the Safeway supermarket. Children at the local primary schools are to be asked to design a logo to be used by the association.

FOOTBALL PLANS: A planning application has been submitted for pitches, changing rooms and a clubhouse to be built for Ingelby Barwick Football Club's junior team at Thornaby Road/Ingleby Way.

POLICE SURGERY: PC Birdsall will hold a police surgery in the Kirklevington Memorial Hall, on Wednesday, April 17, from 7pm to 8pm.
