Last month millions of viewers were enthralled by Harewood House in the new series of House Detectives on BBC2. The Northern Echo has now teamed up with Yorkshire's most visited house - near Leeds - so that five lucky readers can win family tickets to experience Harewood for themselves.

One of the treasure houses of Britain, Harewood was designed by John Carr of York. With exquisite interiors by Robert Adam, it is renowned for its stunning collections of art masterpieces, fine porcelain and Chippendale furniture. Filmed last summer, House Detective experts explored the house attics and grounds to unearth some of Harewood's hidden history - literally in the case of locating and excavating a "lost" Temple of Venus. Fascinating objects discovered in the attic will be on public display for this season.

This year's exhibitions in the house also look at Turner, Girtin and Valey watercolours in a scientific light, miniatures (including loans from the Royal collection) and items from Lord and Lady Harewood's person collection.

Meanwhile, the season of contemporary art examines the relationship between art and science, beginning with an exhibition of work by Marc Quinn. The Old Kitchen will now be open daily, allowing more people to explore this treasure trove of culinary delights.

The grounds, landscaped by Capability Brown, have lakeside and woodland walks, a stunning collection of rhododendron (April-June), the oriental Rock Garden, Walled Garden, restored Paterre Terrace, popular Bird Garden with over 120 species including penguins and flamingoes, and, for youngsters, the thrills and excitement of the Adventure Playground.

Open daily until November 3, Harewood is easily accessible for visitors, being close to the A1 on the A61 between Leeds and Harrogate. Harewood provides an oasis of tranquility and the ideal location to relax with family and friends.

To win one of five family tickets just answer this simple question:
