Binns in Darlington will be closed to the public until 1pm Tuesday as a mark of respect for the Queen Mother.

The House of Fraser store, in High Row, is allowing those staff who are working to watch the funeral of the 101-year-old royal in two specially set aside areas.

Workers have also been given the opportunity by management to take the day off in their own time if they wish.

Manager Steve Pashley said: "As a mark of respect for the Queen Mother we have made appropriate plans."
