Transport funds boost

FUNDING to help people get about more easily has moved a step closer for residents. Easingwold Town Council's bid to buy another scooter as part of its shop mobility scheme has received the support of Rural Transport. An application for a grant is to be submitted to the Countryside Agency. The council is also looking for further funding for a "night bus" from York to Easingwold on Sundays each week. The Countryside Agency has already intimated that it will pay £800 toward this. North Yorkshire County Council is running the bus as a pilot scheme for six months to assess what take up there is.

MAP GUIDE: The council has received an up-to-date definitive map to use in future items regarding public rights of way. County councillors have agreed to supply replacement marker posts for Long Street on the basis that the council undertakes the work.

LIGHTING PLAN: Hambleton District Council has proposed lighting schemes for the public rights of way at Spring Street/Back Lane and two at Long Street/Croft Close.

RENTS CHARGES: Allotment rents are to remain at £6 for the coming year, but market stalls will increase from £100 to £102 per week.

PAYMENT AGREED: The council has agreed to pay £194 to Galtres Forestry for additional repairs to the play equipment in the Memorial Park.
