MOUNTAIN bikers of all ages and abilities are being invited to pit their skills against Kielder Forest, in Northumberland.
The 10th Kielder Reiver Challenge is being staged by the Forestry Commission on May 25, giving leading racers and fun riders the chance to compete.
A bumper turnout is expected after last year's event was scaled down because of the foot-and-mouth epidemic.
Ranger Pippa Kirkham said: "Riders can plot their own route to test skill and sinew. Because of its popularity, early registration is definitely recommended."
Participants gather points by checking in to any of 20 control stations dotted around the 155,000-acre forest. The remotest ones carry the greatest points tally and tend to attract the leading riders.
There are ten categories, ranging from solo men and women to veteran pairs.

Entry is £11, or £9 for Trail Cyclist Association members.
