YOUNGSTERS who have shown an interest in the Army have been rewarded with the holiday of a lifetime.

Ten young people were chosen to take part in an adventure training scheme in Cyprus after visiting an Army careers day at the Dolphin Centre, in Darlington.

Among the winners were Bonnie Gray, 17, from Hartlepool and Andy Gailes, 18, from Consett, County Durham, who is completing a uniformed services course at Derwentside College.

The youngsters enjoyed a week's training with the 120 Army Youth Team which is usually based in Marne Barracks, Catterick, North Yorkshire.

The team was led by Staff Sergeant Mo Donaghy who lives in Eston, near Middlesbrough.

Bonnie, who is studying A-levels at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, said: "I couldn't believe it when I won. My mum was really pleased for me and I was so excited.

"I had never been abroad or flown before so it was a real adventure. I loved flying, I was scared of heights but I am not any more.
