AN engineering company set up in Darlington less than a year ago is looking to expand.

Pure EDM, at Morton Park, plans to create three jobs, having already become a leading supplier of precision engineering components in the region.

Now fully operational, the company has already supplied its services to local and national customers.

The firm offers a complete precision engineering electrical discharge machining (EDM) service, using the most advanced technology available.

EDM is a high-precision metal cutting process which can be used for a variety of applications.

The company specialises in sub-contract wire and spark erosion work.

This covers many sectors of engineering including press and mould tool services, gauge-making, tool-cutting and the production of components.

Customer-based services provided by Pure EDM include advice, assistance and support.

The company's early success has been made possible by an enterprise grant from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), plus support from NatWest and Darlington chartered accountants and business advisors Clive Owen and Co.

Andrew Moore, managing director of Pure EDM, said: "We would like to say thank you to the DTI, and particularly Joan Laws, for all their help and support.

"We also had support from Rob Utton, from NatWest Bank, and our accountants Clive Owen and Co."

He said: "Having spent the last two years concentrating all my efforts on building up a successful precision engineering business, we now look forward to the future and the continuing success of Pure EDM."

Peter Taylor, manager in the business planning and development department at Clive Owen and Co, has been working closely with Mr Moore and directors Robert Metcalfe and Justine Ashton.

He said: "We are very pleased to be associated with such a successful new business in the Darlington area, which has achieved so much in such a short space of time.
