A GROUP of secondary school pupils took part in an English lesson with a difference.

Children at The Norton School, Norton, were joined by authors Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore, who helped encourage their interest, and particularly that of the boys, in reading.

English teacher Louise King said: "Nationally boys under-achieve in English. They are just not as interested as girls, which is why an event like this is good.

"Both authors are very lively and help get the youngsters motivated. The books they have written are about adventures and teenage issues so they are very relevant."

The youngsters took part in various workshops.
