Two 15-year-old youths have been released on police bail after an alleged attack at the junction of Hartlea Avenue and the A167 at Beaumont Hill, Darlington, last Friday.

Police have recovered a mobile phone belonging to an 11-year-old who was punched in the face in the alleged attack.

BUILDING DESTROYED: A former pumping station at Wynn Quarry, Stanhope, was severely damaged by fire early yesterday. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

DOOR STOLEN: A door worth £400 was stolen from a JCB forklift truck in Meadowfield Way, Newton Aycliffe, between 4.30pm on Tuesday and 7.50am on Wednesday.

COMPUTER TAKEN: A Dell Latitude lap-top computer, worth £1,200, a Panasonic DVD player, valued at £900, and DVDs and CDs were stolen from the boot of a Mercedes E200 in Front Street, Sedgefield, between 7pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday.

TALENT SEARCH: Budding entertainers can show off their talents at the Cornmill centre, Darlington, at a talent show on Monday, from 11am to 3pm.

CARAVAN THEFT: An Avondale Wren single-axle, two berth caravan, worth £3,000, was stolen from Oakdene Road, Fishburn, at 4.45am on Wednesday. The caravan was towed away by a dark Volvo estate car.

LIBRARY UPGRADE: Bishop Auckland Town Hall library has expanded its audio-visual material and now stocks a host of DVDs for hire. Video and DVD hire has been extended from three days to a week, at no extra cost. Other branches can be accessed by library staff or via the website, www.durham.gov.uk to order individual requests.

CONCERT DATES: A series of lunchtime concerts is launched today, when George Hetherington and David Fiddeman perform at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, from 1pm to 2pm. Tickets cost £2.

WATCH SNATCHED: A patterned pocket watch with a heavy gold chain was stolen from a house in Blackwell, Darlington, on Wednesday.

HOUSE BURGLED: A house in Stansted Grove, Middleton St George, was burgled at about 10pm on Wednesday, by thieves who made off with items of jewellery.

BOOT SALE: A car boot sale to raise funds for parties celebrating the Queen's golden jubilee in Ireshopeburn and West Blackdene, Weardale, is being held at the Weardale Inn, Ireshopeburn, on Monday, from 9am to noon.
