THE Under-11s squad can breathe easily this week after finally securing the Teesside Junior Alliance League Division Two championship after an anxious three-week wait.

Having completed their League programme, Spraire had already secured promotion but Lingdale still had a chance of taking the title.

Lingdale needed to win all four of their remaining games to draw level with Spraire on points and this would have set up a one off match in which the winners would be promoted as champions.

Lingdale were on course to achieve this feat but on Sunday their dreams were flattened when Billingham Town beat them 7-2 with only one game left to play.

As well as taking the Division Two title, Spraire Lads also had a good cup run, being eliminated by a good Marton team from division one 3-2 away from home.

The management team said: "Well done Lads. Keep up the hard work next season and a big thank you to everyone who has contributed in the team's success this season."

Spraire Lasses 4 v 3 Reyrolles Kestrels

In a pulsating battle between these Under-11 sides in the Tyne Tees Girls League, Reyrolles took an early lead after three minutes.

Laura Gowling equalised four minutes later. Jordan Atkinson for Spraire Lasses went close following a brilliant dribble. Reyrolles again took the lead after ten minutes following a long throw into the penalty area.

In the second quarter Rachel McKnight scored two well taken goals in the 24th and 25th minutes for Spraire Lasses to lead 3-2 at half time.

Laura Gowling turned in another girl of the match performance to make the score 4-2 after 36 minutes. Laura Spence, Laurel Barr and Sian Eales held firm in defence until Reyrolles scored after 43 minutes to make for an exciting last quarter of an hour. Keely Edwards worked hard for the Lasses with goalkeeper Katie McTague in her usual superb form standing firm tipping over the bar shots and diving bravely at forwards feet. Spraire Lasses play Newcastle in the semi-final.

Spraire and Reyrolles Kestrels Under-13s beat Norton and Stockton Ancients 5-2.

In difficult conditions at Norton, the combined Spraire Lasses and Reyrolles team played well with goals from Kathryn Clarke (2) and one each from Chloe Atkinson, Danni Shutt and Brogan Prudhoe.
