NOT every driving test includes getting a Land Rover or a four-tonne truck around a cross country obstacle course.
But then, if the Army is going to live up to its Be The Best boast, it needs to demand more from its drivers.
Soldiers from across the North will compete against each other on the moors at Wathgill Camp, above Leyburn, today and tomorrow, in Exercise Div Drive 2002.
In all, 16 teams from as far apart as Newcastle, York, Durham, Catterick and Thirsk will be taking part in tests which will stretch their knowledge of the Highway Code as well as their skills in navigation and on the road.
There is even a motorcycle section for those who want to extend the challenge.
