WEARDALE Community Partnership is seeking charity status, so a meeting of trustees and residents will be held on Wednesday, June 19 in Eastgate Village Hall, 7pm, to discuss the plans.

GIVE BLOOD: A blood donor session will be held in Teesdale Sports Centre, Barnard Castle, next Thursday, from 3.30pm to 7pm.

BADMINTON SESSION: There will be a jubilee session of badminton for children in Newbiggin-in-Teesdale village hall next Thursday, from 10am until noon. It costs £1 per child and places can be booked on (01833) 640877 or 640327.

YOGA SESSIONS: A six-week yoga course begins on Wednesday, June 12, at High Force Hotel, upper Teesdale. Classes run from 7pm to 8.30pm and a fee of £12 is payable at the first session.

BOOK SALE: Second-hand books will be on sale in Cockton Hill Methodist Church, Bishop Auckland, on June 8, from 10am to noon. Proceeds go to the Bible Society.

WINDOW SMASHED: The double glazed window of a shed in Dent Walk, Newton Aycliffe, was smashed when a milk bottle was thrown through it at about 4.30pm on Wednesday..

RADIATOR THEFT: The headlamps and radiator, valued at £90, were stolen from a red Vauxhall Nova which was parked in Waverley Terrace, Shildon, between 9am on Monday and 10am on Tuesday.

Antiques FAIR: An antiques and collectors fair will be held at the village hall in Ravensworth on Sunday, June 9, from 10am to 4.30pm. Home-made refreshments will be available.

LAWNMOWER THEFT: A Lawnboy 1095 48cm petrol driven rotary lawnmower, valued at £150, was stolen from a garage at St Clare's Church Rectory, in St Cuthbert's Way, Newton Aycliffe, between 10pm on Sunday and 8am on Monday.

HOUSE BURGLED: A Goodmans DVD player, valued at £100, Hitachi video recorder, worth £80, several CDs and £4,000 cash in £20 notes were stolen from a house in Mount Pleasant Court, Tudhoe, on Sunday.

FUN DAY: A barbecue fun day is being held in aid of the British Red Cross at the Comet pub in Hurworth, near Darlington, on Monday. The event will take place in the pub car park from noon to 6pm, with stalls and children's entertainment, including a bouncy castle and competitions. Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children, with under fives free, and are available at the Comet or by phoning Jill Nixon on (01325) 721268.

GUILD MEETING: The next meeting of Darlington Whinfield Townswomen's Guild will be held at 7pm on June 13 at Whinfield Junior School, Darlington. The speaker will be Peter Howe, who will give a talk on cycling across America. Visitors are welcome, and tea and biscuits are available. Admission is £1.
