Third time lucky Durham head took place on March 2 amidst Durham Amateur Rowing Club's (Darc) further fears of cancellation due to rising water levels.

Racing took place over a 1800m course, over four divisions on the River Wear at Durham. Darc achieved a good range of success at veteran and junior level with an exceptional coxing performance from C Curtis who won in all four divisions.

The veteran men performed well, in the single sculls winning the following categories:

Vet B 1X: M Tyler

Vet C1X: A Jaggard

Vet D 1X: A Jaggard

Sen 1 1X: M Tyler

Their success continued with wins in coxed fours.

Junior Singles were won by T Edwards J11 lX, and D Howie J13 1X. Girls junior singles were won by C Frost WJ 13 lX, and N Bruce WJ 14 1X. Juniors Frost and Jones won Sen three doubles, Bruce and Tees won WJ14 doubles and J Eddie/A Eddie won WJ 18 doubles.

Congratulations go to the juniors who attained good positions amidst big competition at the Great Britain Junior Trials at Boston in February.

In the men's junior singles sculls Matt French achieved 18th, Tom Robson 35th and in the women's junior sculls Alex Eddie achieved second and Jess Eddie 21st.

Alex went on to win in the pairs the next day and Jess in the double sculls, both girls achieved selection to compete for Great Britain at Munich.
