THE 20th annual Great Aycliffe Show gets under way tomorrow.

Billed as the Really Great Aycliffe Show, the event is open from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, on fields at the Oak Leaf Sports Complex.

A full programme is planned for the arena on both days, including the Honda Imps motorcycle display team and Jez Avery, who will jump over brave volunteers from the audience in his mountain bike stunt show.

The Mighty Adrian Smith will offer a £1,000 prize to anyone who can match his feats of strengths, and David Seamark will be using geese to demonstrate the ability of his sheepdogs.

Regular events include the popular handcraft exhibition, a five-a-side football competition, whippet racing and competitions for pedigree rabbits and cavies.

Free activities include trips in a Royal Artillery hot air balloon, inflatable beach volleyball and a human football table.

The Playhouse marquee will have a host of local entertainers, including performances by The Chimes, Mixt Nutz, Littlestar and TRC.

Show organiser Marie Robinson said: "It looks like a bumper show this year."
