A woman who sued her factory boss after he asked her breast size while ordering her a new pair of boots, has won her sexual harassment case.

Factory boss Ken Moore plagued Vicky Henderson, 21, asking about her breasts and suggesting she should get pregnant to avoid period pain.

The Newcastle tribunal was told that Mr Moore demanded to know what size her breasts were when he was supposed to be sorting out a new pair of safety work boots for her.

Miss Henderson, the only woman on the production line at double glazing company Darby Glass, Gateshead, sued the company for sexual harassment and sex discrimination, saying that her life was made a misery by factory manager Mr Moore.

She said she was too afraid to complain about her treatment at the factory while she still worked there, because she thought it would only make matters worse.

Miss Henderson, 25, of Great Lumley, County Durham, said she was victimised by Mr Moore, who used any excuse to pick on her and tell her off.

Mr Moore, who denied the sexual harassment allegations, sacked her a week before her probation period was due to run out, in October last year.

The company had claimed that Miss Henderson's application was a malicious attempt to get back at Mr Moore and the firm after she was dismissed.

Mr Moore had only started his job as factory manager four weeks before he sacked her, and admitted that he had not been given any equal opportunities training by the firm.

At the tribunal, he said Miss Henderson had been sacked for a range of different reasons, but the company's human resources officer Gail King said it was because of her lateness.

However, time sheets from the company showed that she had only been more than a few minutes late on one occasion.

A separate hearing will be held to determine damages.
