THERE was a feast of attractions for steam enthusiasts at the weekend.

Bondisle Field, Stanhope, County Durham, was the venue for the Weardale Steam Transport Festival, featuring vintage cars, motorbikes and trucks, fairground organs, a model railway, miniature railway, pit memorabilia, photo displays and trade stands.

The two-day event was opened by local MP and Government chief whip Hilary Armstrong.

Despite the weather, it was hailed a success. Organiser John Toulson, who was also responsible for the recent Barnard Castle Steam Fair, said: "This is the first time I have organised something like this in Weardale and it has gone really well."
