A CHILDREN'S charity is to benefit from Sunderland Empire's Christmas pantomime.

The theatre is staging Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, featuring Danielle Nicholls from Children's ITV and Tyneside Pop Idol contestant Aaron Bayley, in December and January.

The theatre will help raise money for the Children's Foundation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of the region's youngsters.

One thousand tickets for the best seats for Friday, January 10, at the reduced price of £12.50, will go to the charity. There will also be collections at the end of each performance.

Tickets for the seats are on sale until Friday, September 6. To book call Colin Best, of the foundation, on 0191-202 3003.

Margaret Robinson, the foundation's head of funding development, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to treat your family with tickets for the North-East's biggest panto while raising vital money to help local children."

Theatre general manager Dominic Stokes said: "Panto time is a very special time of year for children and hopefully, between ourselves, the pantomime audience and The Children's Foundation, we can make a difference across the whole region."

The foundation raises money to fund medical research and community projects designed to improve children's health.

Through its Yellow Brick Road Appeal, the foundation raised money to build the Sir James Spence Institute of Child Health at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
