The sensational comeback of Louis Welch to the unlicensed ring looks set to go the distance.

Welch's next fight will take place at the Tall Trees Hotel, Dalington, on October 4 and he is already being talked about as a major contender for unlicensed heavyweight belts within the next 12 months.

Welch will be chasing the titles heal by Stacey Dunn, Steve "Stunner" Roach and Gypsy Joe.

The confidence of Welch is now sky high after his demolition job on Mad Mickey Golding from London.

This was his first fight back in the ring and there were no signs of any rustiness normally associated with comebacks.

The GIANT Golding suffered a furious attack from a fired up Welch and was knocked out in the first round, leaving the Londoner with a serious head wound.

Chris Brooks, the promoter of the contest and Welch's manager, was delighted with the result and is confident that there will be no stopping his man from conquering anybody in his way.

Brooks said: 'I was delighted how well Louis performed against Golding, there will be no stopping him now'

There is talk of another major contest for Welch taking place in London in December and he won't have the comfort of fighting in his hometown of Darlington, but his confidence is so high at the moment it doesn't seem to bother Welch.

He said: 'When I come to London he will be coming with me and somebody's going to get badly burnt.'
