As the final week inside approaches, things have been hotting up inside the Big Brother house - giving Geordie firefighter Jonny a sleepless night.

The known insomniac didn't much like the idea of an early night with everyone going to bed before 11pm and headed out for a pre-nod chat with the chickens.

Everyone found it difficult to sleep because of the heat. Jonny stumbled out at midnight and just stared into space. An hour later, he helped himself to chocolate from the fridge, returning to the sofa to enjoy it with a cigarette and a drink.

Forty minutes later, he was back in the bedroom. But not for long. By 2.41am, he was in the garden with Kate, who'd got up thinking it was morning.

The pair were in a lively mood, despite the unearthly hour. They played hide-and-seek with the camera and joked about Jade's sleeping position on the sofa.

When she woke up and asked what they were doing, the joking firefighter told her: "I'm baking a cake - she's knitting a jumper".

But Jonny may not be laughing in seven days' time as the final four battle for the prize of £70,000 that goes to the winning housemate.

He appears to be approaching the final leg of the competition nervously.

"We'll have to get extra toilet roll because we'll all be s******g ourselves all week," he said.

After telling Jade he was "as proud as punch" to be in the house on the last week, she pressed him on how much winning meant to him.

"Once I get into the last week, if I go, I'll still be proud as punch. But I mean, all four of us would love 70 grand, wouldn't we?" he said.

His main concern must be model Alex. The two have little in common and spending the final week in the house together could prove too much even for light-hearted Jonny.
