Despite bowling out The Merlin, Dormans had to work hard for a four wickets victory when the sides met in Division One.

Fareed Ramzan claimed seven for just 27 runs in 9.5 overs and Sdj Hussain returned three for 16 in nine overs but in reply Dormans found Geoff Burdon in good form with the ball for The Merlin. He claimed five of the six wickets to fall for just 13 runs in 9.2 overs but an unbeaten 23 by Ramzan eased the home side to victory.

Hinderwell had 86 runs to spare when they entertained Jack Hatfield Sports. Batting first Hinderwell declared with 186 for three on the board as the runs flowed from Duell (38), Lyth, with an unbeaten 64 and Swain who carried his bat for 52.

When Jack Hatfield Sports went into bat they were all out for 100 which included 45 by Mustafa. Swain, Hay and Steyarth all took wickets for Hinderwell.

Ormesby Hall had just one wicket to spare at the exiting game against Norton. Required to score 130, they finished with 133 for nine and they were indebted to Leach for his opening contribution of 56. McCabe added a valuable 28 in mid-innings and for Norton, Skirving took four for just 20 runs and Jenkins three for 35.

When they made first use of the wickets Norton ended on 129 all out. Watson top scored with 25 and for Ormesby Hall, Peacock captured four for 41 and Hartley three for 16.

Loftus defeated Normanby Parklands by two wickets at the end of a high scoring game. When they made first use of the wicket Parklands were all out for 159 which included 44 by Shoaib and 37 from Walker. McNulty, who opened the innings, scored 24.

Morrison had a good day with the ball for Loftus taking six wickets for 54 runs and Smithies claimed four for 54.

Loftus overcame the loss of three early wickets when Dixon (51), and Barritt (33) formed a productive partnership for the fourth wicket and eventually they won losing eight wickets as Severs finished undefeated on 20. Watcham, with three for 31 and Frewin, who claimed at a cost of 39 runs, were both in form for Normanby Parklands.

Paragonians had just one wicket in hand when they defeated Skelton Castle. Gratton batted throughout the Skelton Castle innings contributing an undefeated 74 to the total of 136 for six. Burton and McKenna both took a couple of wickets for Paragonians who responding were also indebted to their opener Burton, he too, was still there at the end undefeated on 66 as Paragonians replied with 137 for nine. Grant picked up four wickets for 31 runs, Hogarth took three for 48 and Wrigley two for 22 for Skelton Castle.

After totalling 131 all out, Boosbeck lost by seven wickets to Staithes. Runs were at a premium when Boosbeck batted first and Passmore with 25, improved the situation before Daynes added 27. A Theaker was the most successful bowler for Staithes with three for 12 and when the home side replied they were indebted to Horne (25), Alen who carried his bat for 41 and S Theaker (37no).

In Division Two, Cowpen Bewley defeated Dormanstown by three wickets following the end of a low scoring game. Philip Lloyd was another batsman to bat throughout the innings and his unbeaten 56 which included six boundaries, enabled Dormanstown to total 83 in 31 overs. Clayton sent down 14 overs in taking four for 29 and Carr had four for 40 from 13 overs.

Responding, Cowpen Bewley could only manage 85 for seven with Manners hitting three sixes and six boundaries in 47 but the total was sufficient to see them home in 16 overs. Anthony Dowson returned three for 35 in seven overs and Craig Smee two for 24 from the two overs which he bowled.

The match between New Marske and Skelton Castle ended in a draw. Replying to a target for 171, Skelton Castle were only 95 for seven at stumps and their plight would have been a lot worse but for the assistance of new fewer than 35 extra. Top contribution from the bat came from McCabe, who ended unbeaten on 21.

When they batted first New Marske realised 117 for six with Alderson finishing undefeated on 74. They too enjoyed a considerable number of extras, 38.

Normanby Parklands were 120 for seven in the allotted overs in their home game with Loftus. Mead, Reed and McGrath all made at least 20 and for Loftus non did better in their attack than Pearson who picked up five of the seven wickets to fall for just 39 runs.

S Tyreman opened the Loftus reply scoring 24 and Gullon finished unbeaten on 29. M Tyerman added 24 and Pearson was the other not out batsman, along with Gullon. Pearson carried his bat for 25 in a match-winning total of 122 for three.

Keith Harding opened the Moorsholm innings scoring 33 before being run out and Ward added 30 before Wheatman contributed 28 to a total of 130 all out against Brotton for whom Yeoman returned four for 35. Whitwell and Smith both took a couple of wickets for Brotton.

Replying, Brotton were all out for 95 which included 41 not out by Hanszik while for Moorsholm, Ward was in splendid form with the ball taking seven for 40. Ammison and Wright gave support sharing the other three wickets.

Blacksmiths Arms totaled 159 for seven against Ormesby Hall with Sherwood making 25, Tweed 22, Hetherington an unbeaten 39 and Hann 31. Responding, Ormesby Hall ended on 128 for seven with Quyyuam top scoring with 30 while Burns added 22 and Ackram an undefeated 24. Prosser struck form with the ball for Blacksmiths Arms taking five of the seven wickets to go down for 38 runs.
