The two quarter final matches in the League Knock-out Cup produced one-sided matches as Spennymoor Half Moon beat the visiting Wolviston King's Arms A for the loss of only one point, which was won by Micky Hann.
Wolviston King's Arms B had a similar comfortable victory against the visiting Stockton Elm Tree, whose only point came from Harry Williams.
The players in the league were celebrating their successes in the World Championships held at Beamish. In the World Pairs Championship Terry Flett and Mark Loader reached the quarter finals, whilst Brian Dutton and Ian Hedley went one better to reach the semi-finals.
In the World Singles Championship Brian Dutton got to the quarter finals, where he was beaten by teammate, Terry Flett. In the semi-final terry was beaten, but not disgraced, by the eventual winner, Paul Dixon of Sneaton, who completed his fourth consecutive victory.
