A NORTH Yorkshire hotel has been chosen as the first winner of a nationwide award.
Managers from Waverley Wines and Spirits were asked to nominate their choice of customer from among the premises buying drink from the company in the UK.
The businesses were then assessed by an independent panel, judging innovation, content and the variety of wines available by the glass.
Richmond's King's Head Hotel was selected as the first competition winner.
"This is an excellent accolade for the hotel," said manager, Kay Robinson.
"I've geared the wine list towards the current trend for New World products, but we are continually reviewing our menus and wine list to ensure we keep abreast of modern trends in food and wine in line with guests' requirements."
