Ripon's newly established bus station has not only provided a boost for passengers but has improved the area's environment, says an annual transport review.
The long-awaited bus station, which also includes a new library, small shop units and public conveniences just off the Market Place, was built with a major contribution from the Local Transport Plan and has been welcomed by passengers.
An annual report by Harrogate Borough Council, part of North Yorkshire's progress report on transport issues, says one of the most significant areas of improvement has been schemes such as the Ripon development.
The station, says the report, has also contributed to the overall improvement of the what is described as a "fast and efficient" service between Ripon, Harrogate and Leeds.
However, transport chiefs admit there are a number of issues to be tackled, including more bus shelters and timetables
