Heroin addict admits thefts

A heroin addict has admitted stealing a lock worth £4.99 from a department store. Christopher Balogh, 33, of Ethel Street, Darlington, also admitted stealing a prescription, when he appeared before Darlington magistrates. The case was adjourned untilAugust 29.

CARELESS DRIVING: Steven Robert Fishwick, 19, of Esson Road, Darlington admitted driving without due care in Grange Road, Darlington, driving a moped without insurance and driving not in accordance with a licence, when he appeared before Darlington magistrates. The case was adjourned until August 13.

JUBILEE FUN: Marwood Parish Council has organised a golden jubilee family Celebration on Saturday in the village, near Barnard Castle. ASSAULT CHARGE: Ajit Tony King, of Surtees Street, Darlington, who is accused of assaulting Dionne Broadbent, will appear before Darlington magistrates on August 20 after his case was adjourned.

ROAD CLOSED: Cobden Street, in Darlington, will be closed until Friday while Darlington Borough Council carries out roadworks. Residents have been informed of alternative parking arrangements.

CASE ADJOURNED: Four Darlington men accused of using or threatening violence have had their cases adjourned at Darlington Magistrates' Court. Colin Windale, 40, of Welbeck Street, Michael Wilson, 21, of Humber Place, John Paylor, 57, of Thorntree Gardens, and Michael Squires, 41, of Brighton Street, will appear at the court on August 20.

PHONE THEFT: A blue and silver Nokia 8310 mobile telephone, worth £50, was stolen from a Vauxhall Vectra in High Street, West Cornforth, between 8pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday.
