A NORTH-EAST show returns at the weekend following a break last year because of the foot-and-mouth outbreak.

The show will take place without the cattle classes, but there should still be plenty to see and do on the Robert Brown Showfield, Sedgefield, County Durham, on Saturday.

Show secretary Brian Woodward said: "We are pleased with the entry, considering our break last year.

"Attractions include a strong craft section, and in the small livestock section there is a strong entry of rabbits, pigeons, poultry and cavies."

There will be horse and pony competitions, with a full programme of equestrian events and an open dog show.

Another attraction will be a dog agility competition, run by West Cornforth Dog Agility Club.

There will also be a falcon display by Ridgeside Falconry, of Kirk Merrington, musical entertainment by Trimdon Concert Band, and Punch and Judy.

Gates open at 10am. Admission is £3 for adults, £2 for pensioners, £1 for children under 16, and under-fives are allowed in free
