FUNDRAISERS have been thanked for helping to raise £678,000 for the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust during the past year.
The money has helped to improve patient services, buy medical equipment and enhance the hospital wards.
Among those who raised money was a group of 13 and 14-year-olds from Egglescliffe Comprehensive School.
They held a series of events including a sponsored head shave, a Christmas card sale and a mime concert.
The children raised £1,000 after being inspired by their friend, Lee Reed, who has cystic fibrosis.
The money enabled the trust to buy six nebulisers to improve care for children with cystic fibrosis at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton.
Other donations included a £10,000 gift to the University Hospital of Hartlepool from the Women's Royal Voluntary Service. The money was shared between six wards and was used to buy soft furnishings, televisions, videos and medical equipment.
Bryan Hanson, chairman of the trust, said: "The trust is always grateful for any donation it receives and must pay particular tribute to those who contributed to the overwhelming amount collected during the last financial year."
