HISTORY WALK: A three mile walk passing through ancient woodland and examining the mining legacy of Sacriston will take place from 11am on Sunday, starting from the Sacriston Community Centre.

ORGAN MUSIC: Paul Brown will entertain members of the North-East Organ Society at the Red Lion, Chester-le-Street, from 8pm on Wednesday.

EYES RIGHT: Laura Armstrong, 16, of Chester-le-Street, spent a week on a potential officer's work exper- ience course with the Army Training Regiment, at Winchester.

NEW CLASS: A new weekly line dancing class is to start at 7pm on Tuesday, at St Jos-eph's Parish Centre, Birtley. Each class with cost £2.

STREET COLLECTION: A street collection held in Chester-le-Street by the Chris Rochester Trust Fund raised £504.15.

JOB SEARCH: More than 100 people have found work thanks to the efforts of 24-year-old Angie Shattock, a client advisor with the Action Team for Jobs. She was awar-ded a Certificate of Merit.

DOG WALK: The Beamish Mary Inn, at No Place, is staging a sponsored walk and fun run in aid of Diabetes Research, from 11am on Sunday, August 18. Graham can supply sponsor forms at the inn.
