A DESPERATE plea is being made to cat lovers by an animal shelter that is running out of space.
The Hobos Animal Rescue, in Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland, has more than 20 cats which are in need of loving homes.
Tish Robinson from the shelter said: "We are overrun with cats and kittens.
"A lot of strays were brought in because of the storms and I know other animal shelters are having the same problem.
"As well as those cats and kittens that are in foster homes there are a further 20 that need homes."
Anyone who can offer one of the cats a home should contact Mrs Robinson on (01388) 832570.
