POLICE are appealing for help from the public after a man was beaten up in a cemetery during a late-night attack.
The man, believed to be in his early 30s, was found slumped on the ground in the Manor Road Cemetery, Scarborough, shortly after midnight yesterday.
He was found by a passer-by who quickly alerted the police. The victim was taken to Scarborough General Hospital.
His injuries, while severe, are not life-threatening, and police were hoping to interview him last night.
Before the attack, the man had been seen walking along the disused railway line which leads from the town's Barrowcliffe estate to the Safeway store.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Scarborough police on (01723) 509352.
