POLICE have issued an e-fit image of a man they want to question in connection with a spate of burglaries in North Yorkshire.

The suspect was among a group of three men, who tricked their way into the home of an elderly Scorton resident last month, after posing as officials from the water company.

The first man knocked on the victim's door and persuaded her to go to the kitchen and run the taps until she could see blue dye.

However, when she became suspicious and decided to check the house, she discovered two other men had sneaked into the premises; all three ran off when challenged.

Money was later found to be missing from the house. Similar incidents have since been reported elsewhere in the county.

The e-fit resembles the man who knocked on the door of the house in Scorton.

He was probably in his late teens, thin, with brown, collar-length hair and spoke with some kind of speech impediment which may have been a lisp.

The other two men where around the same age; one was wearing either a blue or black jumper.

Anyone who can help identify any of the men can contact Richmond CID on (01609) 789355 or the intelligence office at Richmond Police Station on (01609) 789350.
