NORTH-EAST computer peripherals and accessories reseller Lindy Electronics is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a visit by the grandsons of the company's founder.

It was originally founded in Berlin in 1932 by Klaus Lindenberg as a wholesaler for electrical domestic appliances, and electrical and petroleum lamps.

Now, Klaus's grandsons, Juergen and Peter, are visiting the company's Teesside headquarters, in Thornaby, to mark the anniversary milestone.

The British arm of the company was founded in 1987 by Klaus Lindenberg and Gerry Casey, the father of current managing director, Darren Casey.

The company operates in five European countries and in the US, as well as across the world via its UK-based Lindy International arm and www.lindy.com website.

Darren Casey said: "Lindy has gone through a number of incarnations over its seven decades in existence, and has retailed almost every kind of electronic merchandise.

"The computer and electronics revolution in the 1980s has enabled us to build the company into a very successful, pan-European company.

"We're very pleased to be welcoming Peter, who manages Lindy Italy, and Juergen, who runs Lindy's operations in Germany, France and the US, over to celebrate our 70th anniversary.

"Lindy Electronics has enjoyed great success in recent years, both in the UK and overseas, and we are looking forward confidently to our next 70 years."
