SOME well-known names of rock will descend on the region next month for the first UK Metal Mania festival.
Among the artists performing at Newcastle University on Saturday, September 7, will be former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley, the Tigers of Pan Tang, the Macc Lads and Baz Warne.
The event runs from 2.30pm to midnight, with two stages.
Also performing will be Blitzkrieg, Earthrod, Voodoo and Slayer tribute band Nufuturecow.
Proceeds will go towards the NSPCC, Princes Trust and Mental Health (For Youth).
Tickets cost £10.50 and are available from Concepts in Durham, Hot Ratts in Sunderland, the university, Newcastle City Hall and by telephoning (0191) 261 2606 or-263 5000.
