A KEEN cyclist is taking to the coast to raise money for two charities close to his heart.

Alistair Campbell, of Halnaby Avenue, Darlington, is hoping to complete a bike ride between Whitehaven and Tynemouth to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society and St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington.

Mr Campbell was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 15 years ago and is unable to walk without crutches.

Mr Campbell will be joined on the ride by two friends, Alan Anderson and Tom Tweddell.
