Hathaway and Cope Stokesley League: Lingfield Farm started off life in the Hathaway and Cope Stokesley League with a resounding 9-3 win over South Bank United.

Richard May latched onto a ball from Stewart Glence before hitting Farm's opening goal and Stephen Fawcett lobbed the United keeper to make it 2-0.

Late on in the first half, man of the match Mark Salvati hit two more following outstanding solo runs.

Within minutes of the restart, May and Salvati had put the game beyond United's reach although they showed their fighting spirit with goals from Dave Larkin and Chris Watson.

May then completed his hat-trick before setting up Khalid Maroof for goal number eight and it was Maroof who completed the scoring knocking home the rebound after his earlier shot had been parried by the keeper.

Simon Annal had earlier added a third for South Bank United.

In midweek, United bounced back to notch up their first points of the season with a 2-1 win over Stockton Elementis.

Two breakaway goals from Dave Larkin in the opening quarter hour had Elementis struggling but they regained their composure and their man of the match Chris Dyson reduced the arrears five minutes from half time.

Both sides had chances to add to the scoreline in the second period but both defences held firm leaving United with the points.

Stokesley had a busy three days sandwiching the Jefferson Cup final in between two league fixtures.

Despite hitting the woodwork twice in the opening stages of their game at North Skelton, Stokesley went behind to a Mark Sherwood goal.

Sherwood added a second with fifteen minutes remaining and Alan Cummins wrapped the game up with five minutes to go.

At home to Redcar Coke Ovens on Monday, Stokesley once again started well but a 30-yard thunderbolt from Kevin Watson had them trailing at half time.

Anthony Gregory then weaved his way through the Stokelsey defence before making it 2-0 and goals from Gregory and Graham Watson put the game beyond Stokesley's reach.

They did however hit back with strikes from Richard Keegan and David Harland.

In between their two defeats in the league however, Stokesley did pick up some silverware by beating the Huntsman 4-2 in the final of the Jefferson Cup at Great Broughton with goals from Michael Bulmer (2), Louis Dixon and Richard Simpson.

Ennis Square began their season with a 4-1 win over the Woodman's Arms.

With man of the match Wayne Gent a constant problem for the Woodman's defence, they took the points with goals from Gent, Brady, Grenfield and substitute Adam Metcalfe.

Things went better in midweek for the Woodmans when a goal from Lee Waugh was enough to beat a Miiddlesbrough Post Office side who also went down 2-1 to Thornaby Mandale at the weekend.

Philip Smith broke away from the half way line to score the Villages opener and although John Gittens equalised before half time, Stephen Lambert fired home the winner for the Village with just ten minutes remaining.

North Skelton Bulls Head raced into a three goal lead at home to the Grenadier with first half goals from Simon Nelson, Alan Stiff and penalty conversion from Richard Bailes.

The Grenadier came back strongly after half time with a penalty goal from Paul Stephenson and a second from Stephenson with 15 minutes remaining.

The visitors put the Bull's Head under considerable pressure but the defence held out to the final whistle.
