Coundon Foresters pulled off the result of the weekend in as they maintained their 100 per cent record at the expense of Newton Aycliffe Sports Club.

The two sides started the day as the only unbeaten sides in the top division, but Coundon produced an irresistible display to inflict the Sports Club's heaviest league defeat since they were formed. However, it was the Sports Club that actually took an early lead as Craig Barrigan put the visitors 1-0 up in the opening five minutes. However, the champions had soon reversed the deficit as Lee Ellison and Darren Wilson both found the net to put the hosts 2-1 ahead at the break. Darren Wilson notched his second of the game soon after half time to increase the Forester's lead, but Barrigan struck once more for the visitors as the Sports Club attempted to stay in touch. That was to be the Sports Club's last sight of the Foresters though, as Adam Reid soon restored the two-goal lead before Lee Ellison notched twice in the final 15 minutes to complete his hat trick. Norman Foster then put the icing on the cake for the champions as he notched Coundon's seventh of the game to make the final score 7-2, which already puts Coundon three points clear at the top of the league after only five games.

Meanwhile, Nestfield Club took advantage of the Sports Club's defeat as they moved into second place following their game with fourth placed Shuttle & Loom. A fine first half strike from Carl Crosby saw Nestfield go into the break in front, and Chris Robinson doubled that lead after the break as he slotted home a fine opportunist goal. The Shuttle plugged away as they tried to get back into the match though, and late on they were awarded a penalty, only to see Andrew Naisbett in the Nestfield goal pull off a fantastic one-handed save. Chris Airey did eventually pull a goal back for the visitors in the dying minutes, but there was to be no dramatic comeback as Nestfield held on to run out 2-1 victors.

Elsewhere, Hurworth Albion moved into fifth spot as they defeated Central Club 4-1. Darren Tate's first half brace put the Albion in control early in the game, before substitute Saul Charlton matched that feat with two second half goals of his own to put the home side 4-0 ahead. Carl Bozeate managed a late consolation goal for Central late in the game, but Central still remain pointless at the wrong end of the table.

The only remaining game in Division One was littered with controversy. After a first half dominated by Bishop Auckland Cricket Club they went in 3-0 ahead against The Northern Echo. However, within fifteen minutes of the re-start the score was back to 3-3 as the Echo staged a dramatic comeback.

All that was to change though, as a disputed penalty and red-card for a professional foul saw the Cricket Club regain their lead. Both sides then started to get frustrated as they found themselves having players booked before the Echo were further reduced to nine men as Darren Stanley received his marching orders for a second bookable offence. Two penalties and eight goals later the Cricket Club ran out as 7-4 victors whilst the Echo continued to protest at their treatment from the referee. Kevin Slater (2), Craig Marley (2) Chris Stott, Ian Corner and Lee Stainsby struck the Cricket Club's goals whilst Darren Henderson (2), Darren Stanley and Craig Maddison scored the Echo goals.

In Division Two, All Stars remain top of the league as they cruised past bottom club Yates Wine Lodge 11-1, whilst AFC Orange remain in second despite their game being postponed at the weekend. Killinghall Arms are looking menacing in third place, however, as their 4-1 victory over Canney Hill leaves them only one point behind Orange with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, goals from Alan Conachy, Mark Thompson, Neil Atkinson, Phillip Makepeace and Mark Carter gave Grey Horse a 5-4 victory over Bishop Auckland Derby as they moved into fifth place. Anthony Jaques (2), Kevin McCormick and David McCormick notched for the Derby, who remain just above the Grey Horse in fourth place.

In the only remaining second division game, Copper Beech and Royal British Legion played out an exciting 2-2 draw. Alan Gowling opened the scoring for the Beech, and it was a lead that the home side held all the way until the 78th minute when stand-in 'keeper Alan Curry was finally beaten by Brian Gough's strike. However, Kevin Myers did briefly restore the Beech lead, but they were unable to hold on as Jimmy McCabe headed the Legion level in the final ten minutes.

In Division Three, Peppers Draughting Services remain three points clear at the top of the pack following their 8-1 victory over Drinkfield United. Meanwhile, second placed Hope Inn also hit eight as they beat Haughton B.A.T. 8-2 thanks to goals from Steve Stephens (2), Dave Hubble, Joe Kemp, Graham Wedge, Stewart Ward, Trenton Hewitt and Nathan Kemp. Karl Lockwood notched the Haughton goals.

Elsewhere, Falchion remain in third place despite suffering their first defeat of the season to Pizza Perfekt. Falchion started the better of the two sides, and struck an early goal that their play displayed. However, that was just the catalyst for a superb response from the Pizzaboyz as Liam Coleman, Michael Weston and Ian Caygill all notched two goals each to give the home side a 6-1 victory - a result that could have been even greater had the Falchion not been saved by the woodwork on three occasions. Meanwhile, Smith & Allan remain rooted to the bottom of the table following in 8-0 defeat to high-flying FR Aviation. Graham top-scored for the Aviators with a hat-trick, whilst Carrol (2), Metcalfe, Caligari and Thompson also found the back of the net. Middleton St George Cricket Club also notched a big score as they defeated AFC Aruba 6-2. After a scrappy opening, the Cricket Club took the lead through Mark Evans, but they were soon pegged back as James Merritt struck a fine equaliser. Parity wasn't restored for long though, as Jamie Langburn made it 2-1 with a well struck free kick and Mark Brischuk stuck a third before half time. A broken wrist for Jamie Gardner saw Aruba reduced to ten men early in the second half due to a lack of substitutes, and the Cricket Club made the most of the advantage as Mark Brischuk hit another three goals to make it 6-1. Aruba managed a late consolation from a free-kick, but it was never going to be enough as the Cricket Club move into sixth place.

In the remaining Division Three games, Sherwoods beat fellow strugglers Newton Cap 3-1, whilst Emcor cruised to an emphatic 5-0 victory over former second division rivals Royal Oak. Emcor produced a fine display of finishing as Gary Brown and Stu Fawcett both took advantage of one-on-one opportunities with Oak 'keeper Preston Slade to make the score 2-0 at the break. Mark Spence's pin-point through ball put Stu Fawcett through early in the second half as he lobbed Slade for his second of the game, and had he not sliced his volley minutes later he could have had his hat-trick. Luck was on Emcor's side though, and Fawcett's sliced volley fell perfectly for Gary Brown to notch his second of the game, before Alan Tweddle's late penalty sealed the points for the hosts.

In the only remaining game of the day, The Cricketers picked up a good three points against AXA Insurance, as they ran out as 2-1 winners. AXA took the lead mid-way through the first half, however, thanks to John Wilde's fine strike, and managed to hold that lead until the 70th minute.

Once more, though, the home side let the lead slip as Andy Davies reacted quickest to a goal-mouth scramble resulting from a poorly dealt with free-kick. Worse was to follow though, as disaster struck for AXA 'keeper Greth Percival as he missed his attempted clearance of a through ball, leaving Davies with a simple tap-in to secure the points.
