CAMPAIGNERS trying to have a swimming pool built in their home town have received a welcome boost.
The Get Redcar A Swimming Pool, or Grasp, group, has received backing from the Amateur Swimming Association.
The association's national facilities officer Noel Winter said he was impressed by the group's enthusiasm and found their plan realistic.
Grasp spokesman Frank Wales said Mr Winter attended a recent meeting and said it was an anachronism that a town the size of Redcar had no pool.
Sport England has invited a deputation from Grasp to a meeting in Durham City to discuss a lottery bid.
