Macmillan Bowl Preliminary Round

Bedale FC 7 Dorman FC 1: Bedale earned a first round tie with rivals Richmond Town after an emphatic victory over second division promotion hopefuls Dormans.

Paul Orton gave the home side an early lead, Bedale then took control of the game when Wayne Gredziak hit two goals. The opening first quarter was nip and tuck, but on the hour Adam Bramley got himself on the score sheet. Gredziak then got his hat-trick goal in the 72nd minute to make it 5-0, but visitors Dormans pulled it back to 5-1 through Michael Kinlan in the 80th minute, but Gredziak scored his fourth of the game and Michael Robinson wrapped the game up

Whinney Banks 2 Thornaby YC 0

Second placed second division side Whinney Banks shocked their first division visitors Thornaby Youth Club, by taking a fifth minute lead through John Blamires. With ten minutes of the second half remaining Andrew Lockwood with his first of the season earned his team a first round tie against fellow second division side Teesside Arriva.

DIVISION ONE

Acklam SW 4 Richmond Town 2

Acklam Steelworks entertained Richmond Town, who narrowly lost 1-0 to Nunthorpe Athletic last week. Acklam started of the brightest and took an 18th minute lead through Ray Teasdale back from suspension. Fifteen minutes into the second half the game turned on its heads when Dave Jenkinson levelled and Gavin Newall then gave Richmond a 2-1 lead. An inspirational substitution then brought its reward for Acklam, after Gary Bell was introduced and his raking long balls from out of defence caused problems for the visitors when first Dean Talukder drew the teams level at 2-2 in the 70th minute. Ten minutes later Acklam took a 3-2 lead through George Pain and five minutes later Lee Atkinson completed a good winning reversal.

BEADS FC 2 New Marske SC 0

Middlesbrough side BEADS FC were one of three teams still looking for their first win, they entertained New Marske SC. Five minutes into the second half the home side broke the deadlock when Owes was on target for the first time this season when he volleyed home a Gary South cross. Ten minutes later on the hour a South corner was headed clear, but only as far as Steve Thompson who volleyed home to make it 2-0.

Fishburn Park 1 Thornaby FC 3

Whitby side Fishburn had stared the season brightly, beating Nunthorpe on the opening day, but two defeats before today's match has seen them slip behind. As expected the opening quarter was very tight and even, but the speedy and impressive Danny Jones gave the visitors the lead in the 20th minute, Fishburn pressed for the equaliser but with just a couple of minutes before half time Jones struck again to make it 2-0. The second half saw Fishburn pushing forward and on the hour they were rewarded when new signing Paul Graham, transferred from local rival Whitby Town, scored to pull it back to 2-1. The home side were now looking for the equaliser again but with eight minutes remaining Michael Arif scored.

Grangetown BC 2 Whitby Town Res 2

League Champions Grangetown Boys Club are losing ground against the early leaders, two defeats and this draw, after leading 2-0 seemingly comfortable against Whitby Town Reserves. After the opening first 25 minutes Ian McGowan gave the Boys Club the lead. Michael Meggison then seemed to have given the current League Champions a 2-0 winning lead, but Whitby Town Reserves who have been in this position before, fought back and Richard Boden made it 2-1 in the 73rd minute and seven minutes later were level when Graham Brewer equalised.

Nunthorpe Ath 3 Carlin How 0

Nunthorpe Athletic overcame a bruising encounter with Carlin How to remain top of the League, but the pair will meet in the first round of the MacMillan Bowl in November after Nunthorpe were exempt as runners up, and Carlin How had a walkover after the resignation of the Huntsman. In this hard and end to end encounter the home won with goals from Peter Boldison, James Mellon and Anthony Roberts.

Stokesley SC 0 Mackinlay Park 1

A tight end to end match between these teams with the home side looking for their first win of the season against Redcar side Mackinlay Park, who already have two wins under their belt, that half as many as they managed all last season. The match swung end to end but Michael Collantine snatched the winner.

Wolviston Res 9 Hollybush Utd 1

Wolviston Reserves recorded their biggest win of the season after a 9-1 hammering of basement club Hollybush United. The home side had to play centre half Jonathan Cooper in goal, but this did not matter as they completely overran the visitors and took a 12th minute lead through midfielder Ian Thompson, full back James Wilson then added the second, Dave Atkinson completed an uninterrupted hat trick with goals in the 24th, 29th and 35th minute and Thompson made the half time score 6-0. Man of the match Thompson completed his hat trick in the 58th minute with Atkinson adding a further two goals on the hour and in the 74th minute, before Rob Jones who was the Hollybush' s man of the match scored a consolation in the 75th minute.

DIVISION TWO

Bill Wndrs 9 Guisb Town Res 0

Billingham Wanderers completely overran their visitors, who had to reverse the fixture, due to the first team involvement in the FA Cup. John Cairns (2), Serrechia (3), Lee Thompson (3)and Jonathan Stewart

grabbed the goals.

Darlington SRM 2 Darlington CB 2

This local derby saw visitors Darlington Cleveland Bridge taking the lead through Duane Beagle after only 14 minutes. Home side Darlington Simpson Rolling Mills keeper Andrew Price was kept busy and his efforts were rewarded five minutes before half time when Daniel Thorns made it all square at 1-1, just before half time the home side took the lead through Daniel O'Neil. but Paul Lowe put through his own goal to give the teams a share of the points.

SMG Redst's 4 Darlington RA Res 0

Billingham side SMG Redstripes completely dominated their meeting with Darlington RA Reserves and took a 10th minute lead through Alex Degiorgis, worst was to follow for the visitors five minutes later when they were reduced to ten men. The Billingham side were now well on top and they doubled their lead in the 25th minute through John Adamson. In the second half the home side dominated the match and a great volley from Lee Johnston made it 3-0 before man of the match Degiorgis rounded of the scoring.

Teesside Arriva 3 Teesside Link 1

Hartlepool side Teesside Arriva entertained Thornaby side Teesside Link who took a 27th minute lead after defender Neil Newton and keeper Stephen Jewson made a mess of clearing the ball and Jewson brought down Paul Livingstone, who got back up and converted the penalty. The home side pressed forward but at half time they still trailed 1-0. At half time Paul Hill was brought on and four minutes into the second half Neil Hay was on hand to make it 1-1, this seemed to make the home side up the tempo and in the 70th minute a Paul Proudlock through ball found Hay who gave the home side the lead for the first time. Nine minutes later Hay was brought down in the Teesside Link box, and Proudlock secured the 3-1 win from the resulting penalty with his 5th of the season
