CHANGES in demand patterns at swimming pools in Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor have led to changes in opening times.
Sedgefield Borough Council's cabinet has approved the changes, which will come into effect on Monday, and run until the end of March next year.
Lunchtime opening hours at Spennymoor will be noon to 2pm from Monday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Evening sessions will be 6pm to 8pm from Monday to Friday, except Tuesdays, when lessons are held.
Public lunchtime opening hours at Newton Aycliffe will be changed to noon to 2pm from Monday to Friday, and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Evening hours are 6pm to 8pm from Tuesday to Friday.
Times freed up by the reduction in opening times will be filled with activities including lessons, GP referral classes, school swimming, lifesaving, water polo, diving and masters swimming.
Opening hours at Newton Aycliffe's sauna suite will remain 10am to 2pm on weekdays, but it will close on Saturday and Sunday.
The alterations will save the council £20,000.
