POLICE have charged a man with the rape of a prostitute.
The man, from Middlesbrough, is accused of raping the woman in the Newport Road area of the town, on October 4.
Detective Constable Robin Jacobs, of Cleveland Police, said: "Prostitutes, by the very nature of their work, are vulnerable people. Anyone who uses violence against them, or forces them into sex against their will, can expect a robust response from police."
