NEWCOMERS Chester Garden Farm entertained local rivals Grange Villa WMC in the top clash of the day and ran winners by the odd goal in what turned out to be a nine goal thriller to retain their 100 per cent league record.

Missed chances looked like being costly for the Farm when it was Grange Villa who took a 2-0 lead into the second half, but that all changed on the resumption when within 12 minutes the Farm had stormed into a 3-2 lead.

The Villa levelled things up at 3-3 and then went 4-3 up to once again leave themselves in the driving seat until supersubs Jon Kelly and Stephen Hall transformed the match with goals to seal in incredible 5-4 win for the Chester lads including a final minute winner.

Kelly had earlier scored another goal along with Graham Cook and Andrew Robson with the Villa's efforts a stunning hat-trick from Barry Ward and an Andrew Hutchinson goal.

Pelton Crown played current champions Stanley FF and were level at 1-1 at half time with Gary Barker scoring for the Crown. Stanley though hit back in the second half and ran out 4-1 winners with goals from Graham Kendall (2), Craig Suggett and Kelvin Armstrong to maintain their position at the top of the league.

Stanley RAFA also moved up the table one place as a result of a 2-1 win over Felling Mulberry. Lewis Carr Slones, a recent signing for the RAFA scored and a Stephen Burdis penalty ensured the points for the RAFA while the Felling reply was an own goal.

In the Stanley Aged Miners Cup, Pelton Fell enjoyed a 7-0 win over Annfield Plain Plainsman with Danny Bankhead striking a hat-trick along with two Andrew Cuthbertson goals and strikes from Lee Hutchinson and Ricky Stanton.
