Mick Tait is still hopeful of landing a striker on loan but admits the difference in wage demands has made it difficult to bring anyone in.

"It's not as easy these days as it used to be," said the caretaker boss.

"Players were on similar wages in the old days and there's quite a difference now between players who are playing at a higher level." On-loan striker Graham Fenton returned to the fold on Saturday as an unused substitute and while his return from injury will boost his attacking options, Tait is still keen to bring in a new face.

He added: "If we are going to bring anyone in at all it will be from a club in the higher divisions."

While Tait continues to search for a new striker he can have few complaints with his current set of players, who have lost just once in the six games he has been in charge.

"They're all fantastic footballers and every training session is a pleasure to be involved with," said Tait.

"I just need them to bring that on to the pitches on Saturday and at the moment they are doing that.

"All I've tried to do is to get them to enjoy their football.

"We have a great squad with great spirit." Tait was also quick to praise the club's fans who made the trip down to Shrewsbury on Saturday.

"The supporters have been fantastic," said Tait.

"We were 2-0 down at half-time and they were still trying to give the lads encouragement.

"When you come all this way and see your team 2-0 down at half-time you could quite easily turn around and go home.

"They cheered them on all the way. Everybody at the club seems to be going in the right direction at the moment and this is something we need to build on."
