A TWO-year-old mongrel bitch is in need of a new home.
Poppy's owners decided after having her for a year that they no longer wanted a pet, so gave her to the National Animal Sanctuary Support League, in Darlington.
Pauline Wilson, from the National Animal Sanctuary Support League said: "It is a typical story of people not wanting to keep their dog and not realising the responsibility they have taken on. Poppy is a friendly dog who gets on well with other dogs, but does not like cats very much."
